Say it Loud – Black American History Month -kokonaisuuden on ideoinut Earthangels of Finland -yhdistys. EarthAngels of Finland järjestää teemakuukauden yhteistyössä Turun Kaupunginkirjaston kanssa. Me Turun SAM:lla olemme olleet mukana sponsoroimassa tätä upeaa kokonaisuutta! 

Teemakuukauden avajaiset pidetään torstaina 8.2.2024 Turun Pääkirjaston Studio-tilassa, jossa olemme myös Turun SAMin kanssa paikalla. Yhdysvalloista Suomeen muuttanut Granger Simmons on avajaisissa puhujana. Hän toimii nykyään Uudessakaupungissa kaupunginvaltuutettuna. Simmons kertoo avajaisissa elämästään ja omista kokemuksistaan siitä, millaista Yhdysvalloissa eläminen oli afrikkalaisamerikkalaisena, ja miten se vertautuu Suomessa asumiseen. Tämän lisäksi tapahtumassa esitetään dokumentti Brother Outsider: The Life of Bayard Rustin.

EarthAngels of Finland has innovated all of the events for the ”Say it Loud” – Black American History Month and is organizing it with the Turku City Library.

We in SAM Turku have been a sponsor for this amazing theme month! The opening night of the month will be held on Thursday 8th of February at the Studio-venue of the Turku City Library, where Granger Simmons will be the keynote speaker. He moved from the United States to Finland and is an entrepreneur and city councillor who resides in Uusikaupunki. He will bring a personal touch as he speaks about his life as a Black American living in America and the differences he has experienced in Finland. In addition to this, the documentary ”Brother Outsider: The Life of Bayard Rustin” will be shown. SAM Turku will be present at the opening night, too; see you there!
